Services

Repair

We service and repair bikes, plain and simple. If we can’t do what you’ve asked then we will give you an honest response. We’re not going to take your bike into the shop and play with it. We’ll be honest and fair with our pricing and do so up front.

We will, from time to time, buy used and vintage bikes so that they can be completely rebuilt. When we do this we focus on the drive train, the braking system with a keen eye on safety. We will break down all of the bearing systems (when possible) and completely repack them. If you are considering a used bike you can rest assured that we have done all we can to make our used bikes road worthy and safe for you to enjoy.

We offer unparalleled customer service.

Reach out to us today regarding your need and we’ll get back to you quickly.

About Us

Who we are

It seems as if my family and I’ve been cyclists from before we were born.  Knowing that’s impossible I guess I’m trying to convey that it’s difficult for me to remember a time when I didn’t have a bike, or two or three (N+1, right?).  With the number of bikes we have in our collection it made sense for me to start wrenching on them.  Having done so for 30+ years without formal training it was decided that attending a professional mechanics course was next.  Professional Bicycle Mechanic certification was obtained from United Bicycle Institute (Portland) in the fall of 2015 and Guy Town Bikes became official in January of 2016.

What we do

Regardless of what items you purchase these days it appears that manufactures of small appliances, TVs, cell phones, etc. seem to think that you have money to burn. They love the idea that an item is cheaper to replace than to repair and while you are tossing aside their poorly made discards they are cheerfully holding their hands out to accept more of your hard-earned dollars. We don’t believe this approach makes sense and certainly don’t want to see it applied to bicycles. Your bicycle, regardless of age, needs to be maintained. Whether your bike is 4 months old or 40 years old, it makes sense to keep it working for years to come. This is our focus. This is the essence of Rebycling. We love bikes and really want to show them the love they deserve.

We offer unparalleled customer service.

What’s in a name?

Ladies, ladies…hold on. Do not think our name is a sexist shot across the bow of the USS Femme. The name Guy Town Bikes has a history that makes sense if you read on.

Let me start with some family dynamics. My wife and I have 3 wonderful daughters. They’re all grown now and have their own families, but this story goes back to when they were all home. Having 3 daughters never was a problem. In fact I’ve enjoyed my daughters a great deal and can even brag about my skills of braiding hair and ironing skirts. (I’ve done my share). But the point is that as a guy there were brief moments where the estrogen in the house was so thick it could be cut with a dull knife. During these times I’d head to the garage to disappear.

On one of these occasions I exited the main house and said something like. I’m heading down to “Guy Town”, with the implication that it was my refuge from the high tide of hormones.  It wasn’t long before I posted a sign on the garage door which read, “Welcome to Guy Town where spitting and scratching are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Established 1998, the Management. “

When I started working on customer’s bikes the natural outcome was the name “Guy Town Bikes”, but rest assured, ladies, this isn’t a place where you’ll feel uncomfortable or awkward. In fact, due to my affinity towards the important ladies in my life, you’re likely to get treated with extra care and consideration rather than feel taken advantage of.

Note: Since the establishment of Guy Town, 5 grandchildren have joined the ranks; 4 wonderfully frilly granddaughters and 1 rough and tumble grandson, who likes to come out to the shop and have what he calls “dude time”.

Appointment Only Service allows us to meet with you One on One for no additional charge. This type of service is best for those customers who manage their calendar carefully or for those who are not comfortable with possible delays during Walk in Service.

Traditional Walk-in Service is just that, traditional. We have set hours where we are in the shop and will help customers on a first come, first served basis. You will still be treated with the same care and concern as all customers but you may have to wait a few minutes before we can look at your bike. This service is best for those with newly discovered issues on their bike or for those whose schedule is less structured or defined.

Regardless of which unique method suits you best you can rest assured that one style will not get more professional attention than the other. We promise free estimates, fair pricing and ridiculous attention to detail in all of our repairs, service or rebuild projects.
